Supporting teachers to develop skill with equitable and ambitious teaching

The Math Practice Cycle supports teachers and teacher candidates to develop skill with high leverage instructional practices, such as:

1.     Teaching toward a clear learning goal

2.     Representing student reasoning verbally and visually

3.     Constructing and organizing public records

4.     Eliciting and responding to student contributions

5.     Orienting students to one another and to the discipline

6.     Making sense of students’ participation to inform instruction

7.     Positioning students as competent

8.     Developing and maintaining a productive learning environment

9.     Managing time and pacing

10.  Using body and voice
